Rudo resurfaces

Lilongwe-based musician Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera returns to the stage to hold a two hour Together in Worship Facebook Live concert to be held at Flood Church.
Live concerts are no longer in the picture at the moment due to a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people due to Covid -19 pandemic.
This has forced some artists to opted for online platforms hence Rudo bringing an online concert.
Some of the acts set to be part of the concert include saxophonist Rich Sax, Lumbani Phiri, Anne Gomani, Frontiers, Breath of Life from Dzaleka, Aubrey Banda and Worshippers Hub.
Rudo, who last year had opportunities performing at Lilongwe Jazz and Tumaini festivals, said the concert was a dedication of “our country to the Lord as we are approaching fresh presidential election next week Tuesday”.
“We need God’s intervention. I believe that when we worship we transfer our issues to the one, who is in control of every situation in our lives. When God intervenes in our affairs as a nation, we are assured of peace and security,” she said.
Rudo called upon people to be part of the concert online and sample the performances.
“We are having no audience but it is one stage for the artists. We will just have the artists and the technical team,” she said.
In terms of embracing online shows by the creative sector in the country in these Covid-19 pandemic times, Rudo, said they were important in terms of touching base with the audience.
“In cases of isolation they are also working and important in terms of fighting the pandemic but they are not financially rewarding,” she said.
She said the concert will be on Facebook as well as YouTube.
“People can also take time out to donate to the event if they feel it in their spirit,” Rudo said.
