Rumphi United have qualified for the TNM Super League after emerging champions of the K5 million Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Premier Division.
The Leopards of Chikulameyembe thrashed Embangweni United 3-0 at Rumphi Stadium on Saturday to finish top.
Trouble Kajani scored a brace while Tonic Viyuyi was on target once as Rumphi earned Super League promotion.
Rumphi Coach Jimmy Butao said it was a dream come true to earn promotion to the top flight league.
“It has been a wonderful season. We have experienced players who can withstand the Super League heat. We have played many games but we only lost to Baka City,” he said.
Rumphi also reached the semi-finals of FDH Bank Cup and they were booted out by Ekwendeni Hammers 3-2 on post-match penalties.
NRFA Vice General Secretary Desire Bellings advised the champions to beef up the squad and start early preparations to pass the Super League grade.
“As usual, we are going to organise a bonanza for them to assess their squad. It is our hope they will build a strong squad to survive in Super League,” he said.
