Ryalls Hotel celebrates workers

Protea Ryalls Hotel last week held its annual Associate Appreciation Week to honour the contributions made by employees to the company.

The appreciation week involves various activities that include corporate social responsibility initiatives.

This year, Mbayani Primary School was the beneficiary of the appreciation week and received various items amounting to K1.3 million.

The donation included exercise books, water buckets, wall clocks and bells, among others.

Ryalls Hotel Human Resources Manager Valentine Bandawe said the company recognises and appreciates the role its employees play.

“The appreciation week is all about appreciating the contributions made by our employees to enable the company to make profits.

“The beneficiaries of this donation are also members of the families of some of our employees. We also realise that, as employees, we are ageing and these youngsters are the future of Ryalls Hotel,” Bandawe said.

Mbayani Deputy Head teacher Damiton Nkhoma thanked the management of Ryalls Hotel for the donation, saying the school lacks a lot of materials as it is highly populated.

Nkhoma said the major challenge at the school is classroom space.

“Mbayani is a highly populated school and the funding we get from the government is not enough. Currently, the teacher, pupil ratio is at one to 125, instead of the normal ratio of one to 60,” he said.
