Ryalls Hotel staff donate blood
Protea Hotels Ryalls employees on Wednesday donated blood to the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) in an exercise the hotel organised as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Ryalls Hotel Human Resources Manager, Valentine Bandawe, said the hotel donated the blood in response to the plea made by MBTS that their blood banks were running low.
“As a good corporate citizen of Malawi, we are donating the blood in response to the complaints that MBTS has been making regarding lack of blood in the hospitals. We thought it wise to mobilise our employees to donate the blood and save lives of those in need of blood,” he said.
MBTS Senior Nursing Officer, Prisca Mtapaonga, said the organisation needs a lot of blood, especially when schools are on holiday.
“Our blood banks are low and we urge people to come forward to donate blood and save lives,” she said.
Mtapaonga therefore thanked Ryalls for the gesture which she said would help save lives of people in need of blood.
