Business class students of Saint Andrews High School yesterday donated assorted food items to Burns Unit and TB Ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
The donation was part of activities to commemorate the World Food Day which falls on October 16.
St Andrews Head Girl, Palesa Nkosi, said people with burns require more nutrients to heal, hence the donation.
“As students, we realise that it is our responsibility to help those in need. These people spend many days in hospital, so they need our support,” Nkosi said.
One of the guardians, Martha Jamu, thanked the students for the donation.
She said most of the people in the ward come from far and it is difficult for their relatives to visit them regularly.
The donation included, Likuni Phala, tinned fruits, soya pieces, milk and eggs among others.
The donation was sourced from the school by Chira -Fund, a charitable organization.
