Sakuwa powers boxer Chimwemwe Chiotcha
Super Sakuwa Steel Limited on Saturday donated K1.5 million to pugilist Chimwemwe Chiotcha to enable him prepare for the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) welterweight title bout against Tanzanian Twaha Cassim Kiduku slated for December 25 in Tanzania.
The company has funded Chiotcha’s training camp in Liwonde and bought an air ticket for the boxer and his trainer to fly to Tanzania on December 20.
Presenting the donation in Lilongwe on Saturday, the company’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Ennock Chithonje, said the boxer has the potential to put Malawi on the international map; hence, its support towards the boxer.
“As a Malawian company, we understand that we have to promote some boxers so that they realise their dream. We need to give boxers a chance to showcase their skills and our expectation is that Chiotcha will perform well to bring good results to Malawi,” said Chithonje whose company also supported Chiotcha during his trip to Kosovo where he defeated Timy Shala.
Chiotcha hailed the company for the timely assistance, promising to perform well in Tanzania.
“Words fail to express my gratitude. The support will help me to prepare well for the bout and I promise Malawians that I will win the bout through a knock-out in round six,” he said.
Chiotcha boasts of 15 victories, six losses and one draw in 22 bouts. Kiduku has an impressive record of 11 wins, two losses and one draw in 14 bouts. Kaike Boxing Promotions has organised the bout.
