Barely two weeks after parting ways with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Salima Sugar Limited has announced sponsorship to another TNM Super League side Dedza Dynamos.
Salima Sugar Company Secretary Charles Thupi made the announcement during the funeral ceremony of Dynamos supporters’ chairperson Ackim Kondowole Mageshi, who died in a car accident on Sunday but was laid to rest Tuesday.
However, Thupi said details of the sponsorship package will be announced soon.
“We are ready to pump more resources into the team,” Thupi said.
This will be the first time for Dynamos to have a sponsor as the team relies on well-wishers.
Dynamos General Secretary Mavuto Mgode was at a loss of words after landing sponsorship at their darkest hour.
“It is an emotional one as it comes at the time we are mourning one of the pillars we have lost in our club and their response has been timely. How we wish he was there with us to witness this historic moment,” Mgode said.
Dynamos are on position seven on the 16-member log table with 18 points from 13 matches and still in contention for top eight finish.
Ironically, Salima Sugar withdrew K60 million sponsorship from Wanderers barely hours after the club secured K175 million sponsorship from Mukuru.
