Salimu Chazama, Mussa Ajibu pummeled in South Africa
By Mphatso Malidadi:
Malawian boxers Salimu Chazama and Mussa Ajibu suffered technical knockout defeats in South Africa during non-title bouts at Time Square, Menlyn, Pretoria on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Chazama suffered a third-round technical knockout to Marios Matamba whereas a referee stopped Ajibu’s fight against Flo Simba.
Chazama took to the social media to explain the circumstances surrounding his defeat.
“The matchmaker was struggling to accommodate us and provide meals. As such, I was weak and this affected my performance. I am saying this so that my compatriots should be careful when offered such bouts,” he said.
Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board President, Lonzoe Zimba, said they were yet to get an official complaint from the boxers.
According to boxrex.com, Chazama’s (25) record had dropped to 13 wins, five defeats and two draws while Matamba, 25, improved his perfect record to 11 wins, including nine knockouts.
Ajibu, 33, has dropped his record to 28 wins, including 24 knockouts, 14 defeats and five draws while Simba, 30, bettered his record to 15 wins, including 13 knockouts and five defeats.
