Samsung Galaxy S11 leaks

It is traditional that Samsung releases Samsung Galaxy S-Series in February; that is only two months away.

As usual, the tech world is already filled with opinions of what Samsung Galaxy S11 is going to look like.

Given such a plethora of opinion, it is wise to be very selective and tilt ears towards only those leaks from companies that have an impressive record. OnLeaks is such one technology media house. This is a credible tech prophet.

Perhaps before venturing into possible new features for Samsung Galaxy S11, a bit of hindsight is necessary.

Samsung Galaxy S10 donned an on screen Finger Print Reader. This was a departure from a dedicated Finger Print Reader. This was amazing because it freed the phone of unnecessary buttons; there is beauty in simplicity.

Soon the feature was found wanting. It was discovered out that if a certain screen protector was used, the phone could unlock with literally any finger print.

Samsung used a punch-hole instead of a groove to house the selfie camera on Samsung Galaxy S10.

Samsung picked this from where they left it with Samsung Galaxy S9. This time around, they made the punch-hole smaller. This made the screen flow like the blue waters of Lake Malawi. If truth be said, a groove is an ugly distraction to the screen.

In terms of camera population and placement, Samsung was perhaps too extravagant; a maximum of two selfie and four back cameras. Surprisingly, looks like everybody in the industry followed suit, including the mighty Apple.

That said, what is new? As expected, the leaks reveal that Samsung has fixed the embarrassing deficiency on the onscreen Finger Print Leader.

The company has made the punch hole that houses the selfie camera even much smaller. If you asked me, I would say that that is the right direction. We need to get to a point where there should not be any disturbance to the beauty of the display. I was hoping that Samsung would borrow a leaf from companies like Oppo that developed in-display selfie cameras.

Just when you thought that Samsung had reached a point where its engineers had violated the principle of reduced marginal returns on camera population, looks like the company is not yet done on this. Samsung is rummoured to have added yet another camera at the back making them a total of five. Add the two selfie cameras and you have seven.

Just like with Galaxy S10, Samsung will release three S11 phones; 6.3, 6.7 and 6.9 inch variants. You will have a choice between 4G and 5G.

According to OnLeaks, the price will go up from $900. I disagree. I expect the price to remain the same for the standard version and expect an S11 with reduced price and features.
