Vice-President Saulos Chilima and his wife Mary have led Malawians in mourning Samuel Kaphuka, who served as Blantyre West parliamentarian and deputy minister of Education, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Home Affairs, respectively.
His brother Peter said Kaphuka died Tuesday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
He said the veteran politician would be laid to rest today at Michiru in Blantyre.
“He was a pillar of the family,” he said.
Born on February 23 1951, Kaphuka was from Gwaza Village, Traditional Authority Makwangwala, in Ntcheu District.
