Organisers of the Sand Music Festival have announced that the eleventh edition of the festival will take place early October.
However, organisers Impakt Events are yet to announced the venue for the festival. Last year the festival was held at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima.
International acts like Tanzania’s Diamond and South Africa’s Master KG headlined the festival disrupted by heavy rains.
The festival has over the years kept on changing its dates and at one-time in 2019 it clashed with Tumaini Festival which is held in November.
Festival manager Nkhwachi Mhango said the dates are affected by weather
Due to Covid, last year the festival also came in late.
However, the disruption by the rains and other challenges including poor communication disappointed people.
Impakt Events Director Lucius Banda had to apologise to the people during the festival after people got angry due to lack of communication and started pelting bottles on stage.
But Mhango Thursday said they learned from those experiences.
“We are talking to artists both local and international and we will change the frame of the festival. We are also talking to venue owners and also different partners to deliver an impressive event,” he said.
Mhango then hailed people for the support to the festival over the years.
Meanwhile, a poster for another festival – Hangout which took place at the same venue last year had also indicated that their event will be held on October 1 -3 2021.
However, Mhango said everything would be sorted out for people not to be confused and maintained that their dates remain October 1-3.
