Former Flames and Be Forward Wanderers defender, James Sangala, on Friday launched a non-league side, Uthenga United at Senzani Community Ground in Ntcheu District.
The Flames Team Manager said the team would be used as a tool of preaching and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“It is a dream come true. We need to spread the word of God using every tool available so this football team will be doing that,” Sangala who played for different clubs in Africa including in Angola said.
Before the launch of the team, there was a seminar that was conducted by Pastor Ganizani Valentine of Oasis of the Lord Church.
The purpose of the seminar was to equip the players and officials of the team with the gospel.
In his speech at the seminar, Reverend Palijala of Senzani CCAP Church, encouraged unity and love if the team was to develop.
During the launch, Uthenga defeated Dynamos 3-1. Frank Banda (not the on-and-off Flames player) scored a brace with Allan Mindale scoring the other goal while Madalitso Musanu scored Dynamos’ consolation goal.
At half time, Senzani Police Officer in Charge, Maxmos Mwale, advised the youth to follow moral values.
