TNM’S Sapota Mapeto Promotion has started on a high note this year after the 15 Super League teams managed to raise combined revenue of K2.6 million in the first month of the promotion.
TNM broke the news on Tuesday in Blantyre during the first draw of this year’s promotion that runs until December.
The promotion has so far registered 70,794 SMS hits which translate to K2, 656, 675 that the teams would share.
Big Bullets would get the majority of the share K1, 474, 445 after getting 39, 023 hits from June 16 to July 12.
Just like on the league table standings, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers come second with 26, 688 hits that translate into K991, 445 revenue.
Silver Strikers have raised K118, 200 after making 3, 150 hits.
On the other hand, Red Lions have generated the least amount of revenue— K2, 030 while rookies Fisd Wizards and Mzuni have failed to hit the K4,000 mark.
During the draw, one lucky fan won K200, 000 cash prize while 10 supporters won the Flames replica jerseys in consolation prizes.
Ten other supporters won K5,000 airtime, 10 others have won K2,500 airtime and three other supporters have won Huawei Y221 handsets.
TNM’s head of the marketing division, Webster Mbekeyani, said the Super League sponsors were impressed with the good start to the promotion.
“I think with time, as we sensitise the supporters more, as we educate them more, we should get more people participating in the promotion more so that they should help their team earn more revenue to improve the welfare of their players. I believe when other supporters see how Bullets are doing, they will be motivated to participate more and help to surpass that,” he said.
Mbekeyani added that the Sapota Mapeto interaction programme that TNM had launched would assist in garnering support for the promotion to help the teams be self-sustainable.
To enter the promotion, each supporter has to send an SMS of his/her team’s code to 1515 using the TNM network.
The SMS costs K50 and K35 goes to the team. Participating fans have the chance of winning monthly prizes that include airtime, handsets, Flames replica jerseys, K200,000 cash and two 40 Inch Samsung TVs (for supporters with the highest entries).
The team that first hits the 300,000 SMS count will get K1.5 million.
Bullets were the highest earners from last season’s Sapota Mapeto Promotion where they generated about K9 million.
