Saulos Chilima to attend launch of leadership council
Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima Sunday left the country for Washington DC, United States, where he is attending the launch of Compact 2025 as one of its members.
A statement from the office of the Vice President has since stated Chilima’s trip is a result of President Peter Mutharika’s approval for the Vice president to serve as member in the council.
Compact 2025 is mandated to support countries eliminate hunger and under nutrition by the year 2025.
“The appointment of the Vice President to the council is a positive development for Malawi as the country will now be part of international decisions and strategies in eliminating hunger and malnutrition,” reads the statement signed by the Vice President’s Press Officer Pilirani Phiri.
According to the statement, Chilima is expected back home on November 22.
