Sauti Sol to sing for Castel

By Sam Banda Jnr:

After their impressive exploits at Lake of Stars Festival last year where they were among international headliners alongside United States of America’s Major Lazer, Kenya’s musical group Sauti Sol is set to perform in the country again on April 5 2019.

The group is set to perform in the country this time courtesy of Castel Malawi Limited.

Castel Malawi Senior Brands Manager – Alcoholic, Widdey Nsona, confirmed the news but could not shed more details.

“Yes, it’s true that Sauti Sol is coming,” Nsona said.

The development comes barely a week after Castel Malawi also launched their Booster cider at Queens Club in Mzuzu last weekend during a show dubbed Ladies Night Booster which featured the cider’s brand ambassador Codi and her band Find Codi.

“The event in Mzuzu was beyond what we expected. The turnout was great and we definitely achieved our goal,” Nsona said.

Coming back to Sauti Sol, the group will perform live at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe during the official launch of Castel beer.

The show will cost people K10,000 and then get three Castel beers at the door during the event dubbed African Print Party.

The Kenyan afro-pop band was formed in Nairobi by vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi in 2005.

Iniatiall,y the band, which has had a stint at the City of Stars held in Lilongwe, was an acappella group and guitarist Polycarp Otieno joined before they named themselves Sauti.

The group, which last year hinted that they would love to collaborate with Malawian acts, released their debut album Mwanzo in 2008 to critical acclaim with their second, Sol Filosofia, released in 2011, earning them a number of accolades and nominations in the process.

Sauti Sol has had several successful tours in Africa and Europe and has topped Kenyan charts as well as gained international attention.
