Malawi National Women’s Football team vice-captain Madyina Ngulube and midfielder Chimwemwe Madise continue to make headlines for good reasons in Zambia.

Ngulube and Madise got two awards each during the 2023 Elite Ladies Annual Awards held at the Courtyard Hotel on Saturday.

The two Malawian players had a grand season in the Faz Women’s League.

It was a season to remember for Ngulube having won the Most Promising Player of the Year and Best Ambassador of the club awards in her debut year whereas Madise was named as the Best Midfielder and the Most Disciplined Player.

Ngulube said she felt humbled.

“It feels great to win two awards. I am really motivated. I do not take this for granted. The teammates, coaches, fans and management supported me,’’ Ngulube said.

She joined Elite on a six-month loan deal from DD Sunshine (Silver Strikers Ladies) in January this year.

However, she adapted quickly to the demands of Zambian women’s football having scored four goals and seven assists.

On her part, Madise was also excited with her exploits in Zambia.

“I will not sit on my achievements. I need to remain focused,” Madise said.

The versatile Madise is highly rated in Zambian due her leadership skills on-and-off the pitch.

Madise joined Elite Ladies formerly known as Lusaka Dynamos Ladies in 2020.

All the winners got miniatures and certificates.

Apart from Ngulube and Madise, striker Vitumbiko Mkandawire and goalkeeper Ruth Mhango are some of Malawian players plying their trade in Zambia.

Mkandawire and Mhango both play for Zambia Institute for Sustainable Development Women Football Club (Zisd).
