Scorchers vice-captain Madyina Ngulube made her debut for Zambian club Elite Ladies, formerly known as Lusaka Dynamos Ladies, in a 3-0 victory over Nkhwazi Women at Sunset Stadium on Sunday.
Ngulube, who completed a six-month loan deal from Lilongwe-based DD Sunshine, was in the starting line-up alongside compatriot Chimwemwe Madise.
She did not disappoint her new employers as she provided an assist during the match.
According to information on Elite Ladies’ website, Xiomala Mapepa scored a brace whereas Grace Tembo scored the other goal.
“Xiomara made sure of the points and the score-line after dribbling past one defender and unleashing a powerful shot. The assist was by debutant Madyina Ngulube, the Malawian captain who just signed,” reads a post on the website.
Madise also had a grand game as she assisted in Mapepa’s first goal whereas Tembo scored from Pauline Zulu’s free kick.
In an interview Monday from her Lusaka base, Ngulube said she is adapting well to the demands of Zambian football.
“I feel like I am home. My teammates have really supported me very well,” Ngulube said.
Scorchers coach Lovemore Fazili said he was proud of the players abroad.
“I am happy that all the players are working hard,” Fazili said.
This was Elite’s third consecutive win with a 3-0 margin after beating Prison Leopards and Zesco United Ladies.
Elite are third on the log table with 36 points from 16 matches, three points behind leaders Zesco and second-placed Green Buffaloes.
Both Zesco and Buffaloes have played 17 matches.
