Scorchers strikers head to Tanzania

Malawi Women’s National Football Team striker Asimenye Simwaka has promised to work hard to clinch a deal with Simba Queens in Tanzania.
The 23-year-old Topic Super Dynamos forward was expected to leave the country yesterday to undergo three-day trials with Simba.
“I am taking this as a stepping stone to great heights. I know it is every player’s dream to play in a foreign country. I know it is the right deal because I will be exposed to other teams,” she said.
Simwaka is one of the players who rise to occasions for the Scorchers.
She was on target once when the Scorchers thumped Lesotho 9-0 in Cosafa Women’s Championship in November last year.
Queens, who also are known as ‘The Wekundu wa Msimbazi’, celebrated their first Tanzanian Women’s Premier League last season.
National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) Chairperson Suzgo Ngwira backed the player to flourish.
“She should aim further high. For a start, it is good that she will be earning good perks but she should still work hard to secure better deals elsewhere,” she said.
Currently, the Scorchers have the Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, plying their trade in China.
