Be Forward Wanderers have fired their Chief Security Officer Mavuto Kumsowa, popularly known as ‘Trouble’, with immediate effect.
Kumsowa has been sacked alongside other bouncers Upile Juma, Peace Njanji, Llyod Makandanji, Luckson Meke, Harry Chiwamba and Osman Goba.
Wanderers Chairperson, Simon Sikwese, said letters had been sent to the bouncers notifying them about the development.
“During its meeting on Wednesday, the executive committee agreed to fire them for the good of the club. We are also considering the financial aspect where we would save some reasonable sums of money.
“Some of these people used to get up to K200,000 per month while others were being paid over K100,000. We will now use these savings in other areas that would benefit the team,” Sikwese said.
He said they would hunt for Kumsowa’s replacement through proper recruitment procedures to ensure that the club’s image is protected.
“We will soon place an advert in the local media to identify the right person for the job. We are looking for someone with proper conduct. There is need for all of us to respect the club’s values at all times,” Sikwese said.
Efforts to talk to Kumsowa proved futile as his mobile number was not available.
During recent supporters and executive committee elections, Wanderers Board of Trustees Chairperson, Rashid Gaffar, conceded that bouncers had too many powers at the club such that they even harass club officials.
During the polls, some of the bouncers could be seen beating up voters with impunity right in front of policemen hired to provide security.
The bouncers’ were at the centre of ugly scenes during elections for the post of supporters committee treasurer where they forced people to line up Dave Pemba and not Mphatso Jika.
This forced the organisers to announce that both candidates had won the election.
