Newly elected Football Association of Malawi (Fam) executive committee member, Muhammad Selemani, has said that it was a miracle for him to get the new post.

Selemani required a re-run against Davis Sado after tying on votes two times during Fam’s elective annual general meeting at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

“Many thanks to the affiliates and all those who played a role in my triumph. It was really a tough ride for me considering the circumstances I have gone through. God knows best. I shall live to remember this experience. I salute you all,” he said.

In the third round of voting, the former Masters Security team manager triumphed 20-16.

Prior to the elections, Selemani had pledged to work with any president who wins the election.

Othaniel Hara retained his post as the association’s Second Vice President after defeating Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Chairperson, Lameck Khonje, 21-15.

On the position of committee members, Rashid Ntelera retained his seat after he got six votes, Madalitso Kuyera and Chimango Munthali were also elected. Fellister Dossi was elected unopposed as Fam executive member after she was the only female candidate nominated for the post.
