The police have said they have finished compiling evidence of the man suspected to have killed evangelist Shadrack Wame.
In November last year, police arrested 28-year-old Limbani Rabson Maliro who was hiding in Thyolo following Wame’s death in October.
Wame, who was a darling of many Malawians who followed his passionate sermons, was killed in his house in the lakeshore district of Salima.
Maliro, who is the prime suspect in the murder of Wame and used to work as the evangelist’s houseboy, is currently remanded at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.
Malawi Police National Spokesperson, James Kadadzera, said the police are now ready with all the information which they will present in court.
However, the police publicist could not disclose the date the suspect is expected to appear before court.
“We have managed to gather all the evidence required for the charge of murder which we feel the suspect committed. The interrogations we have carried out give us confidence that the suspect has a case to answer. It is now up to the court to decide when we should appear before the court of law for the proceedings,” Kadadzera said.
Meanwhile, Kadadzera also disclosed that the police have also finished interrogating two principal suspects in the murder of a Criminal Investigations Department Officer for Chipoka Police Station in Salima, Rhoda Ng’oma.
“The prosecution team is also ready to testify against key suspects in the murder of our top police CID Officer Ng’oma. We are also done with our investigations and we are hoping that the court will do its job in time to ensure that justice prevails,” added Kadadzera.
Ng’oma was found dead in her house on August 15.
