Shadreck Chikoti spearheads Kokoliliko magazine

Renowned writer Shadreck Chikoti is spearheading publication of Kokoliliko magazine with the aim of keeping Tonse Alliance partiners on track with governance issues.

Chikoti said the magazine which will also cover entertainment news.

“This magazine also aims at highlighting developments in all constituencies in the country and we will be carrying constituency stories,” Chikoti said.


He said Kokoliliko magazine will also educate the youth on different issues.

“It is a full magazine that focuses on the arts, politics, religion and all aspects of our lives,” Chikoti, creator of the book ‘Azotus the Kingdom’, said.

Chikoti said they were targeting to have the magazine in many languages.


“We discovered that one of the reasons that make people unaware of what the government is doing is lack of information. People need to be updated about what the government is doing in order for them to appreciate and make good decisions. We have newspapers around but we thought we can add something with our magazine,” he said.

Chikoti said the first edition, which highlights among others, the inauguration of President Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Saulos Chilima was out.

“We will be publishing every three months. This magazine is also a job market for young people in the spirit of creating one million jobs,” he said.

Asked where they were getting funding for the magazine, Chikoti, who was once Malawi Writers Union (Mawu) deputy president, said as Kokoliliko, whenever there is a project, they contribute funds.

“We will rely on adverts and we will also look at other fundraising drives to raise funds for the project. We will have it in print version and which will be out next week. We will be having the print version every three months and then for the e- version it is every month,” he said.

He said Kokoliliko belongs to Kokoliliko, a grouping of young MCP supporters.
