The situation is getting out of hand. The match involving Karonga United and Silver Strikers ended prematurely after another bout of poor officiation.
This was the fourth game to be abandoned in a space of three months in the TNM Super League after the Blantyre derby involving Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers also ended in chaos.
The second match was between Silver and Red Lions before the match between Moyale Barracks and Mighty Tigers was also abandoned.
This means Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has three pending cases to make determinations on.
Reports suggested that referee Mercy Kaira reversed her decision three times. She awarded Karonga a penalty before reversing the decision, saying it was an indirect free kick. Then she also changed it back to a penalty.
Meanwhile, three points were awarded to Silver as the match was abandoned while the Bankers were leading 1-0 courtesy of Blessings Tembo’s second half goal.
In a related development, Sulom General Secretary Williams Banda said they would release verdicts soon.
“Be informed that the Sulom Disciplinary Committee met and has determined all cases and the public and stakeholders will be communicated shortly. Kindly note that the delays were on account of reports from stakeholders,” Banda wrote on Sulom Connect WhatsApp forum yesterday.
The three points came just 24 hours after the Central Bankers lost 1-0 to Chitipa United at the same venue.
As it stands, Silver have reduced the gap between them and leaders Bullets to two points. Bullets top the standings with 45 points from 21 matches whereas Silver have 43 points from the same number of matches.
However, Silver are still waiting for the determination of their match against Red Lions, which was abandoned at 0-0 last month.
Elsewhere, Blue Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory over Ntopwa FC at Nankhaka Stadium.
Chifuniro Mpinganjira and Gaddie Chirwa were on target for the Area-30 side.
In another match, Mighty Tigers defeated Mzuzu Warriors 2-0 at Mpira Stadium.
Tigers remain in the relegation zone on position 14 with 20 points two points below Chitipa.
The match between TN Stars and Ekwendeni Hammers ended in a goal-less draw at Kasungu Ground.
