Shankers target K5 million in charity golf
Shankers Golf Association, a grouping of Lilongwe based golfers has organised a charity golf tomorrow at Lilongwe Golf Club whose proceeds will go towards supporting Pachalo Manda’s cancer treatment in Kenya.
Manda, who is on chemotherapy at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) needs K14 million to go for treatment in the East African nation.
Through the tournament, the grouping is targeting to raise K5 million to support Manda.
Captain of the group Gift Kawamba appealed to the corporate world to support the good cause.
“Pachalo is in urgent need of further treatment in Kenya. The treatment requires a sum of K14 million which the family is not able to raise on its own. We appeal to companies and individuals to sponsor the event to assist Pachalo,” Kawamba said.
According to Kawamba, companies and individuals can sponsor a team of four golfers at the tune of K250,000. However, the sponsors will be at liberty to choose their players or ask Lilongwe Golf Club to provide them with the players.
A total of 11 teams had already registered to take part in the event as of Friday morning.
Manda, aged 44 was diagnosed with cervical cancer in February 2021.
