Shizaella Queens have qualified for the Presidential Cup national finals after winning the Southern Region championship at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre on Sunday.
Shizaella defeated Serenity 24-16 in the final to book their ticket to the national phase.
In the semi-finals, Shizaella beat Poly while Serenity saw off Vicky Sisters.
One of Shizaella’s senior players, Esther Payesa, said reaching the national finals indicates that the team was developing in the right direction.
“We know we have huge potential but we need support to hone our skills to become a better team. Now we will start preparing for the national finals,” she said.
Southern Region Netball League Chairperson, Judith Chalusa challenged the team to prepare thoroughly ahead of the national finals.
“They should thrive to be giant killers through that way they will become better players. Otherwise, the competition has been exciting and competitive this year,” she said.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, said the competition was progressing according to their calendar.
In a third-place battle, Poly overpowered Vicky Sisters 29-24.
