Sho Baraka set to perform in Malawi

American Christian rapper Sho Baraka, real name Amisho Baraka Lewis, will perform at Blantyre Cultural Centre (BCC) on Sunday, when he will share the stage with local acts.
Before the BCC show, the American Christian rapper will perform at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe tomorrow at a free event.
The American artist will also share the stage with Zambian hip hop artist and producer Mag 44.
The gospel show has been organised by Flood Church.
Flood Church pastor, Yamikani Kalizang’oma, said yesterday that all was set for the gospel show.
“This is a gospel show we, as Flood Church and our sister church in Lilongwe, thought of putting up. We will, first, hold it tomorrow before coming down to Blantyre,” Kalizang’oma said.
He said they believe in creating authentic environments where young people can engage in conversations of faith and hope.
“And this being December, it’s a brilliant way to celebrate with friends and family while enjoying beautiful music from all over the world and that’s USA, Zambia and Malawi,” Kalizang’oma said.
It is not the first time for Flood Church to organise such a show. In May this year, they also brought US Christian rapper, Da Truth, alongside South Africa’s Lilly Million.
Kalizang’oma said they invited Sho Baraka and Mag44 because they understand what it means to live out their faith in this generation.
“They are both passionate about fighting injustice and encouraging others to use their gifts as well. They have worked together before and, so, through them we want people to have a great experience with sounds from Malawi, USA and Zambia,” he said.
Pastor Kalizang’oma said the two artists will jet into the country today ahead of their performances on Sunday.
Born on January 10 1979, Sho Baraka, who is also a writer, has recorded both independently and as a founding member of the 116 Clique.
