Rejuvenated Silver Strikers have sent a stern warning to struggling league leaders, Blue Eagles, that their time at the top of the TNM Super League log table is over.
The bankers’ General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, said having started the league on a low note, players want maximum points in their match against Epac this afternoon at Nankhaka.
“We are on the move. The Epac match is another three points in the bag. We are toppling Blue Eagles today. Their time at the top is up.
We are staging a coup at Area 30,” Nyirenda cautioned.
Earlier, Silver assistant coach, Lovemore Fazili, said they were targeting 30 points in the first round. Silver are two points behind Eagles who have 18 points from eight games. Eagles are not playing this weekend.
Silver have assembled a good squad comprising talented Thuso Paipi, Mark Fodya, Benet Katinji, Yamikani Mwaila and Victor Limbani. The Bankers have won five consecutive matches.
However, Epac coach Audroll Makonyola, said Silver should not expect a stroll on the park.
“We will play our football and for sure we can beat them once they sleep,” warned Makonyola, whose squad boasts some exciting players such as Innocent Tanganyika and Lanken Mwale.
