Silver Strikers at ease in title race
Although aware of their permutations in the TNM Super League title race, leaders, Silver Strikers, are not piling pressure on their players.
Silver’s Team Manager, Francis Songo, said they believe that they can go all the way and win the championship.
“We are trying to build the best team in the country for the next three to four seasons. We do want to disturb the building process by exerting unnecessary pressure on the young team. The team has a lot to learn,” Songo said.
He added that they were aiming at widening the gap between them and other championship favourites such as Nyasa Big Bullets, Blue Eagles and Mafco.
Songo described their next Super League game against Civo United, scheduled for Sunday in Lilongwe, as a must-win.
“It is a must-win game for two reasons, the first being that we do not want to lose to our neighbours and the other reason is that we would like to cement our standing on the league table,” he said.
Silver top the table with 41 points from 21 games followed by Bullets with 40 points from 22 games. Eagles are third with 39 points from 21 games.
