TNM Super League sleeping giants, Silver Strikers have fired 10 players as they continue their rebuilding exercise.
Inside sources at the club have confirmed that Silver will release the players due to dismal performance last season.
While keeping a tight lid on the list of the released players, Silver general secretary, Chimwemwe Mkhwimba, Tuesday said the technical panel and executive committee was yet to release the final list.
“We are on massive rebuilding exercise so we are bringing some new players and others will go, but for now, we have not made a decision on which players would be released. We will communicate once we finalise the issue,” Mkhwimba said.
It is always a tradition for most of the teams to release underperforming players at the end of every season.
According to the sources, the 10 players who are expected to be released include Peter Pindani, Lazarus Nyemera, Ian Banda, Dailesi Yasin, Blessings Banda, Rodrick Gonani, Thoko Stambuli, Mabvuto Khozomba, John Banda and Ndaona Daisi.
Gonani has been linked with a move to Epac whereas Mzuni are reportedly interested in signing Nyemera.
It has been discovered that other players would be loaned out to other teams. The Central Bankers are also on the verge of losing forward Green Harawa, Ndaziona Chatsalira and Lucky Malata to Mozambique and South Africa respectively.
Silver have already signed Wizards duo Levison Maganizo and Brighton Munthali and Chipiku League top goal scorer Clement Trota and Herbert Wayekha from Msundwe United.
Last season, Silver had a difficult season having finished the TNM Super League on position five with 44 points and also ended trophy-less.
