Silver Strikers Captain Blessing Tembo’s contract with the Central Bankers expires at the end of this month.

Tembo, who has been the longest-serving player at Silver in recent years, signed a two-year deal with the club in December 2015.

Silver General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, Thursday said he was optimistic that Tembo would extend the contract.

Nyirenda said they have offered the former Civil Sporting Club attacking midfielder a new three-year deal.

“We have started negotiations with our captain on the possibility of him signing a new contract with us. He is our captain and he has always been loyal to the club. He is the only veteran remaining in the team. We will wait to hear from him. We are sure that he will play for us next season,” Nyirenda said.

He added that Tembo was yet to give Silver pre-conditions for extending his deal.

However, Tembo said he was not comfortable to discuss issues to do with his contract in the media while the season is in progress.

“I am still consulting on my next move. I will come back to you once I have a meeting with my bosses,” he said.

Silver are on position three on the Super League log table with 52 points from 27 matches.
