Silver Strikers cling to Young Chimodzi
Silver Strikers interim General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, has said their Technical Director, Young Chimodzi, has a lot to offer to the 2017 Airtel Top 8 Cup champions.
Chimodzi hinted that he would retire at the end of the 2017 season so as to concentrate on his personal business.
But Nyirenda told MBC Radio 2 on Monday that they would, instead, extend Chimodzi’s contract.
“We are discussing with Mr Chimodzi on the issue regarding his retirement. There are some voices saying that, maybe, we should allow him to keep on working for Silver Strikers as head coach.
“There are some few months remaining on his contract, but chances are that his contract might be renewed,” Nyirenda said.
Chimodzi said he was yet to discuss with Silver on the issue.
“What they [Silver] are saying could be what they have agreed. I would be able to give you my position on the issue, probably, next week upon meeting them this week,” he said.
Chimodzi said the prospect of his extending the contract depends on his meeting with Silver.
