Silver Strikers coach fires warning shots
Silver Strikers Coach, Lovemore Fazili, has warned Be Forward Wanderers not to read too much into history ahead of the Airtel Top 8 Cup final at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
Fazili warned Wanderers on Sunday after beating Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 5-3 on post-match penalties in the semi-final.
“That will be a totally different game. They should not take things for granted that we lost to them last season. This is another year and in a different cup. They should be watchful because KB did the same last year and they are out of this cup, so Wanderers should not take things for granted,” he said.
Wanderers reached the final after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Moyale Barracks at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
In a post-match reaction, the Nomads Coach, Yasin Osman, was particularly impressed with the players’ fighting spirit.
“It is a good feeling when you come back from two goals down and still win a match. It does not happen often but the boys showed great character,” he said.
Silver and Wanderers met last season in the Carlsberg Cup final at Kamuzu Stadium. The Nomads won on post-match penalties.
Last season, the Nomads also won the inaugural Fisd Challenge Cup after beating KB on post-match penalties.
