Silver Strikers coaches given two-game ultimatum

Under-fire Silver Strikers coaches have been given a two-game ultimatum by the club’s board of trustees, The Daily Times has learnt.

The club’s board of trustees met at Crossroads Hotel on Monday, and agreed on a number of issues including that the Stain Chirwa-led technical panel be given a chance until the end of the first round to prove their worth.

It was also agreed that if the team continues to struggle in the league, the board will have no choice but to hire a new technical panel.

In the TNM Super League, Silver, finish the first round against Fisd Wizards FC before facing OP FC in the Carlsberg Cup.

In an interview on Tuesday, Silver chairperson, Oscar Mabulekesi, confirmed that the meeting indeed took place but was reluctant to give more details.

“Silver executive committee and the board of trustees held an emergency meeting on July 2015 at Crossroads Hotel to discuss the recent poor results of the team.

“Major items on the agenda were the performance of the technical panel, financial and other forces affecting the performance of the team. The executive committee will brief the panel of the resolutions shortly and the way forward,” said Mabulekesi.

The Central Bankers have had a difficult first round in the TNM Super League this season.

They are on position seven on the log table with 19 points from 13 games.

Silver have lost six games, won the same number of games and drawn once in the league.

Recently, the coaches were summoned by the club’s management to explain the Bankers poor form in the league.

During the meeting, the coaches explained that the team was struggling in the league due to lack of depth in the squad.
