Silver Strikers in soul-searching
Silver Strikers’ interim General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, has said he is puzzled by the team’s poor form in the TNM Super League’s second-round.
Nyirenda showed surprise on Friday, a day after Silver drew 1-1 against Moyale Barracks at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.
“We do not know what is exactly happening to the players because they are getting everything. We feel that there is a serious lack of commitment on the part of the players. The title is slowly getting out of our hands. Our chances are in other teams’ hands,” he said.
In a post-match reaction after the game against Moyale, Silver Team Manager, Francis Songo, refused to throw in the towel, saying the title race was still open.
Silver Captain, Blessings Tembo, said he was also equally disappointed by the team’s performance in the league, but hoped that they would bounce back
The Central Bankers have gone three consecutive games without a win, having also lost 1-0 to Red Lions and drew 1-1 against Blantyre United.
With six games to go, Silver are third with 47 points, eight points behind leaders Be Forward Wanderers. Silver have lost once, posted 12 wins and 11 draws.
