The TNM Super League title race is slowly turning into a three-horse race between leaders Be Forward Wanderers, Nyasa Big Bullets and Blue Eagles after Silver Strikers and Kamuzu Barracks kicked themselves out of the competition following poor results over the weekend.

Both Silver and KB have admitted they have slim chances of winning the TNM Super League this season after dropping points.

The Central Bankers, who have gone five years without winning the league, returned to Capital City with just a single point from possible six.

Silver lost to Moyale Barracks 2-1 at Mzuzu Stadium just a day after they drew one-all with Mzuni FC at the same venue.

Another capital city giant, KB, suffered a third consecutive defeat in the league after losing 1-0 to rookies Mlatho Mponela at Civo Stadium on Sunday.

Silver are fourth on the log table with 41 points from 25 games, seven points behind leaders Wanderers who have played 22 games whereas the soldiers are fifth with 39 points from 25 games.

After a poor outing to Mzuzu, Silver Assistant Coach, Abasi Makawa admitted that they have slim hopes of winning the title.

“We are in awkward situation now because the title race is not in our hands. We have to wait for the results from other games so it is difficult for us. We have to blame ourselves as we dropped points in some of the crucial games but we will to remain in the top four,” Makawa said.

Silver are remaining with five games including hosting defending champions, Bullets.

Similarly, KB Assistant Coach, Ted Kalinda, also conceded that their title hopes were slim.

“Very difficult for us but we will play to finish in the top four of the league,” he said.

Title contenders Wanderers, Bullets and Eagles have also crucial assignments before they wind up the season. Wanderers have five away games against Eagles, TN Stars, Mlatho, Masters Security and Dwangwa United but they will host Mighty Tigers, Karonga United and Chitipa United.

On the part of Bullets, they will travel to Lilongwe for matches against Civil Sporting Club, and Silver but they will host Eagles, KB and Tigers among others.
