Silver Strikers learn vital lessons
Capital City giants Silver Strikers are determined to continue from where they stopped last season.
The Central Bankers showed a lot of promise going into the 2016 season but ended up with no silverware on their shelves at Area 47.
The team has not rested since the season ended; the Bankers have been busy on the transfer market and resumed training as early as January with their counterparts taking time off to recharge.
Team Manager, Francis Songo, said the team does not want a repeat of what happened last season.
“We came close to winning the Super League title and other trophies last season. We were almost there. But we did not do certain things right and we learnt our lessons,” Songo confessed.
He said the team dedicated the period from January to February to signing new players and assessing the squad.
Songo said the team has finalised all transfers of the players on its shopping list and is now concentrating on team cohesion ahead of the new season.
“We wanted to fill up our backline and we did that with the signing of Nigerian defender Sheriff Olanrewaju and Hygiene Mwandepeka. We did this in view of the departure of Lucky Malata. Now we would like to maintain the rebuilding process with the players we have,” he said.
Silver finished the 2016 season on third position with 56 points.
