Silver Strikers man not under pressure

Daniel Kabwe

Silver Strikers coach Daniel Kabwe says he is not under pressure on the set targets by his new employers.

The Zambian arrived in the country through Kamuzu International Airport on Friday just one week after his appointment as the Bankers coach.

In his first interview with Silver Media channel, Kabwe was in a relaxed mood.

“When you arrive in a strange place and rain falls it is a sign of blessings. Targets are meant for people and we agreed with management on the targets so we just link with the vision of the sponsors,” a visibly delighted Kabwe said.

Silver set a target of winning all silverware including the TNM Super League in the forthcoming season for the Zambian mentor who has won titles with Zanaco.

The former Zambia national football team technical director, is expected to be unveiled next week.

Silver appointed MacDonald Yobe and Macdonald Mtetemera as his assistants whereas Peter Mgangira was named team manager.

Kabwe is a serial winner having won back to back league titles with Zanaco and also had stints in eSwatini.

He is the second foreign coach in domestic league after Nyasa Big Bullets’ Kallisto Pasuwa from Zimbabwe.

Last week, Silver released some players due to poor performance last season.

Some of the released players include Green Harawa, Mphatso Philimon, Kondwani Mwaila, Lazarus Nyemera, Blessings Kameza, Damiano Kunje and Timothy Chitedze.

For the past three years, Silver made history by becoming the first club to win the Airtel Top 8 Cup twice.

But the TNM Super League has eluded them for close to seven years.
