Mist surrounds the actual destination of Japanese attacking player, Genki Nakamura, in Malawi.

Two weeks after Be Forward Wanderers claimed that he was on his way to the Lali Lubani Road outfit, it has emerged that Nakamura might join Silver Strikers.

The versatile attacker was expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday, but had flight problems.

Recently, Wanderers general secretary, Mike Butao, claimed in the local press that the Japanese would join them.

Butao Thursday said he would only comment once the deal has been concluded.

It was speculated that Nakamura was coming to Malawi, courtesy of the Nomads’ sponsors, Japanese automobile dealers, Be Forward Limited.

Silver treasurer, Fred Kalonga, who has been in contact with the player, yesterday said Nakamura indicated that he is looking for a team in Malawi.

“I have been talking to him and he might be in Malawi this week. The last time we talked he said he was in Tanzania en-route to Malawi to start negotiations with us,”Kalonga claimed.

Lilongwe-based football fan, Gift Chitedze, who is also facilitating the deal, claimed that Nakamura distanced himself from the reports linking him to the Nomads.

Silver are on a rebuilding exercise after a difficult campaign last season. The Bankers are also eyeing TP Mazembe midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo.

Nakamura, Thursday, confirmed that he was on his way to Malawi.

“I will be coming on Thursday night. I don’t know which team I will join. I have to listen to contract conditions and see the football environment,” Nakamura said.

According to his passport, Nakamura was born in 1987 and played in Brazil, Japan, Peru, Germany and India.

Last season, Wanderers signed Cameroonian striker, Lionel Atsu, who set alight the TNM Super League alight after scoring three goals before terminating the deal due to contractual disagreements.

Silver were also interested in signing Ghanaian striker, Samuel Siaw, but the deal flopped after failing to register him because he was a minor.
