Silver Strikers redeploy Leo Mpulula to Under-20

Capital City giants Silver Strikers have redeployed former interim coach Leo Mpulula to their Under-20 side.
Mpulula was earmarked for the position of Scout Manager following the appointment of Dutch coach Pieter de Jongh on a two-year contract.
But Mpulula turned down the offer of Scout Manager.
Silver acting Chief Executive Officer Faith Mzungu-Vilakati confirmed the redeployment of Mpulula to the U-20 side.
’We have finalised everything with him. He is happy to be in charge of the U-20 side. We are also excited and we believe he will produce good players,’’ she said.
Following Mpulula’s redeployment, Green Harawa, who was in charge of the U-20, has been demoted to the position of assistant coach.
Harawa helped the team win the 2022 First Capital Championship.
However, Mpulula was not readily available for his comment yesterday.
Mpulula was promoted to the senior team in the second round last season after Macdonald Yobe was barred from leading the team as he does not have the minimum of Caf B Coaching Licence for Super League teams.
While in charge of the senior team, Mpulula, alongside Etison Kadenge Mwafulirwa, led Silver to position five in the TNM Super League with 51 points, 22 points behind champions Nyasa Big Bullets.
However, Kadenge is the first assistant to the Dutchman whereas Peter Mgangira is the second assistant.
Meanwhile, Silver have released striker Foster Bitoni due to poor performance.
Bitoni joined Silver in 2020 from Blue Eagles but he has struggled to break into the starting line-up due to injuries.
