TNM Super League leaders Silver Strikers are scheduled to launch their replica jerseys at their Area 47 clubhouse in Lilongwe today.
Selling of the replica jerseys is one of Silver’s initiatives in their commercialisation drive which took off in earnest late last year.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Chimbali said the ceremony was aimed at officially announcing that the jerseys are now on the market for everyone.
“We are set for this official launch. So far, we have sold over 200 jerseys. Some 1,000 jerseys arrived early this month and we believe we will make more sales. We want all Silver Strikers supporters to come forward and support this initiative,” Chimbali said.
He said the first consignment of the replica kits was expected to be delivered by March 10 but was delayed due to logistical arrangements with the manufacturers.
This is not the first time for the Central Bankers to go into a replica jersey venture.
In the recent past, they signed a deal with Nsejjere Holdings Limited but the move did not yield the desired results.
Silver supporters committee Chairperson Kingsley Malaya said they were more than ready to support the initiative as it will generate funds for the club.
“We will make sure that we support this initiative. We will mobilise our supporters in different zones to buy the replicas. Buying the replicas will be for our own good because it will benefit our players and officials,” Malaya said.
Silver returned to the summit of the Super League log table after collecting maximum points in Blantyre last weekend where they edged Red Lions 1-0 and clobbered Ntopwa 3-0.
The Bankers have 28 points from 12 points.
