Silver Strikers have restructured their technical panel as they continue with preparations for the new season.

The restructuring process has seen Peter Mgangira taking up the role of assistant coach.

Mgangira will join MacDonald Yobe, who has been working as Zambian coach Daniel Kabwe’s assistant since his coming to Malawi.

Mgangira is set to replace MacDonald Mtetemera, whose contract is set to expire on Monday.

The Central Bankers’ veteran midfielder Young Chimodzi Junior will be doubling roles as team manager and player.

However, Silver Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Chimbali said the changes were yet to be formalised.

“These are just proposals. We will communicate once we finalise everything. At the moment, Yobe and Mtetemera are our assistants,” Chimbali said.

Some six months ago, Mtetemera was suspended from his position pending investigations.

Mgangira will not be taking up the role for the first time as he previously worked with Young Chimodzi Senior at the club.

Silver had a successful 2021 season in which they were crowned champions of the inaugural FDH Bank Cup after beating Ekwendeni Hammers 2-0 at Bingu National Stadium.

They went on to finish as runners-up in the Airtel Top 8 Cup and the TNM Super League.
