2019 Airtel Top 8 champions Silver Strikers have shortlisted candidates for positions of head coach, chief executive officer, commercial director and other positions to undergo interviews at the club.

Towards the end of last season, Silver advertised the positions as they aim at rolling out their commercialisation drive in the 2020 season.

The club’s board chairperson, Chikumbutso Kalilombe, said the shortlisted candidates would undergo interviews next week.

Kalilombe said they were waiting for the festive holidays to end before finalising the shortlisting process.

However, Kalilombe was reluctant to reveal the number of candidates who will be undergoing interviews in all positions, saying this was confidential.

“We are pleased to announce that the shortlisting of candidates who applied for various positions at our club has been concluded. We believe the direction we have taken in as far as commercialisation of the club is concerned is the right one. Once we conclude the interviews next week, we will not take time to announce the successful candidates. We need to hit the ground running,” Kalilombe said.

Silver have been going to the polls for election of officials to form the main executive committee to run the club.

The club receives sound sponsorship from the Reserve Bank of Malawi and has one of the best squads in the TNM Super League.

The Central Bankers lost assistant coach Lovemore Fazili to the Malawi national football team where he deputises Coach Meck Mwase.

Abasi Makawa was then roped in from Masters Security to replace Fazili in helping Young Chimodzi with the coaching duties.

However, Chimodzi recently announced that he would retire from coaching at the end of the season.

Silver finished the 2019 season on fourth position with 53 points from 30 matches.
