TNM Super League giants Silver Strikers are still paying two members of the technical panel, former assistant coach Patrick Mangani and team manager Itai Nundwe, full salary five months after they were replaced.
Silver hired Zambian coach Daniel Kabwe and two assistants Macdonald Yobe and Macdonald Mtetemera after replacing Young Chimodzi Senior, Abasi Makawa and Mangani.
“I have a running contract with the club and I am happy that the club is still fulfilling the contractual obligations,” Nundwe said.
In contract two other club’s employees, goalkeepers’ coach Sibusiso Padambo and assistant coach Peter Mgangira are working without contracts.
Padambo and Mgangira’s contracts expired last month and are yet to be renewed.
Padambo said discussions for a new contracts are underway.
Silver embarked on a rebuilding exercise as they signed several players. The club signed Foster Biton, Chikondi Kamanga, Stain Davie, Patrick Macheso and Mischech Malaicha as they want to win the TNM Super League for the first time in six years.
Last year, Silver won the Airtel Top 8 Cup after beating Karonga United 1-0 at Bingu National Stadium.
However, Nundwe and Mangani are still receiving their salary as their contracts were still running up to next year.
In an interview on Sunday, Silver Chief Executive Officer, Thoko Chimbali confirmed that the two were still on payroll as they have running contracts.
“We cannot stop paying them because it will be a breach of contract. But the good thing is that we might assign them other duties within the club,” he said.
The development means the Central Bankers are paying three assistant coaches and two team managers.
Nundwe confirmed the development.
