Silver Strikers target 30 points

Second-placed Silver Strikers have said they are targeting 30 points in the TNM Super League first round to enhance their title prospects.

The Bankers have recovered from a shock start to the season where they lost first two matches, to move to second with 16 points from eight matches, two points behind struggling leaders, Blue Eagles.

Silver assistant coach, Lovemore Fazili, said the club expected the slow start to the season and planned their revival strategy.

“We had made more than 10 changes to the team during the pre-season. We knew that it would take a long time for the team to start ticking. We are happy that the combination of young and experienced players is working and the results bear testimony,” he said.

“We are devising plans for each match and our aim is to play good football and win at the same time. We will not be happy if we win without playing well,” Fazili added.

“We want to get 30 points in the first round. We are not only looking at Blue Eagles, but the rest of the teams, including Nyasa Big Bullets and Mafco, who are not too far behind. If we do that, then we should be able to keep up the pace in the second round and win the title.”

The Bankers released the bulk of their experienced players and replaced them with young talent in Chisomo Mpachika, Kondwani Mwaila, Thuso Paipi, Levison Maganizo, Brighton Munthali, Mark Fodya, Clement Trota and Wilson Magombo.
