TNM Super League giants, Silver Strikers, have welcomed Mzuzu United top striker, Collen Nkhulambe, for a one-week trial.

The striker started his trials with the Bankers on Monday and reportedly impressed the Young Chimodzi-led coaching panel.

Silver assistant coach, Lovemore Fazili, confirmed on Monday that the 25-year old forward is a gem, who needs polishing.

“He trained with us and he is a good player,” Fazili said.

Nkhulambe is the third leading striker in the Northern Region Football Association (NFRA) Simama Premier Division with 12 goals, six goals behind top scorer, Abel Mwakilama, of Chitipa United.

The Bankers face tough competition to keep top forward Matthews Sibale and Thuso Paipi, who have attracted domestic and international clubs.

Reports are also rife that Bullets are interested in signing Silver captain Lucky Malata.

However, Fazili has said the players were not for sale at any price.

“We are not disturbed by the reports. Let people talk about our players but they belong to us,” Fazili insisted.

Nkhulambe will compete for places in the Silver starting line-up against Sibale, Chimwemwe Chisambi, Tizgobere Kumwenda and Clement Trota.

Silver have also received a huge boost following the return of experienced midfielder, Young Chimodzi Jnr.

Silver finished the first round of the TNM Super League with 29 points on position two, three points behind leaders, Blue Eagles.

The Bankers have also booked a semifinal tie against Mafco in the Carlsberg Cup.
