Silver Strikers welcome Brighton Munthali

A the battle for the final of the Fisd Challenge Cup and the Super League rages on, Silver Strikers have received a boost following the return from injury of first-choice goalkeeper, Brighton Munthali.

Munthali was out for four weeks after sustaining a waist injury during their 2-1 victory over Mzuni FC.

The keeper, who once earned a call-up to the national team, confirmed on Wednesday that he was fit and ready for games.

“I have started training with the team and it will be the choice of the coach to feature me based on his assessment of my play,” Munthali said.

Silver’s General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, said Munthali’s return will provide the coach goalkeeping options.

“All our goalkeepers are good but Munthali’s return will create great competition as they will all aim at impressing the coach, which gives us a chance to perform well in the Fisd Cup, and probably be crowned this year’s Super League champions,” Nyirenda said.

In the absence of Munthali, Silver were using Blessings Kameza.

The Central Bankers face Blue Eagles in the semifinals of the Fisd Cup.

Silver are Super League contenders with 43 points from 23 games.
