Simba hopeful despite defeats
Simba Hockey Ladies side have described their heavy defeats in Zambia over the weekend as a learning curve.
Over the weekend, Simba lost 20-0 and 14-0 to Zambia’s Sharks on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, before going down twice by 10-1 margins to Zambia under-18 team.
Simba Captain, Trinity Chilembwe, said they hope to bounce back and build a strong team capable of retaining the 11-Aside FMB Hockey League title.
“We went to Zambia to learn. We have a good side. We used to do well when we were being sponsored by Sports Complex. We can reclaim our status once we get full support,” said Chilembwe, whose team’s trip to Zambia was sponsored by Capital Oil Refining Industries (Cori).
“We would like to thank all our sponsors for making the trip happen. We thank Cori, Honourable Gaffar, Omega Beverages, Fabs Beverages, Justice Zione Mtaba, Mr Henry Mereka and all for supporting us,” she said.
Cori’s Sponsorship Coordinator, Violet Kapolo, said the company’s management was yet to decide on the way forward in terms of their support to Simba.
