Malawi Queens shooter, Sindie Simtowe, has penned a year-long deal to become GOtv brand ambassador.
The development cements the romance between GOtv and Malawi netball. Both parties signed the deal on Monday at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre.
The Complex Tigresses player replaces Malawi Queens’ assistant coach Mary Waya who was last year’s GOtv brand ambassador.
“I am really excited. I never saw it coming. I promise to work hard to promote GOtv brand. I will also maintain discipline to impress my sponsors and fans,” she said.
The choice of Simtowe does not come as a surprise because she has been a shining star for club and country.
GOtv Sales Manager, Vyness Simbi, said Simtowe would be featuring in GOtv commercials, print adverts, radio jingles, attend interviews with the media and patronize GOtv events as guest.
“Her accomplishments on the netball court have made her a household name. She has won numerous awards including ‘player of the tournament’ for the GOtv Netball Champions League competition that has been running for two consecutive years since 2013,” she said.
“GOtv, being a brand that showcases local talent, believes that the appointment of Sindie is also another way of promoting local talent. After all, television thrives on broadcasting activities and events by our stars.”
Simbi said they believe, Simtowe, being a star from humble beginnings, would be a role model to girls.
Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) general secretary, Carol Bapu, commended GOtv for being a true netball partner.
She also asked Simtowe to maintain discipline.
Simtowe was given a free decoder and one-year subscription.
