Sir Paul Banda in Cockpit assignment
After performing at Premier Lodge in Blantyre last Saturday, veteran musician Sir Paul Banda gets down to the capital city, Lilongwe, and this time performing at Cockpit Lounge on Sunday.
Despite the old-timer putting up a finely honed show in Blantyre, the attendance was disappointing.
The legendary musician will thus be looking at nothing but a better audience at Cockpit Lounge.
The show at Cockpit will set the celebratory mood for fathers.
The creator of songs such as ‘Malilime’ and ‘Achimwene Muzigona Kunyumba’ is all fired up to give fathers a perfect treat as they celebrate Father’s Day which is very popular in most countries.
“I am excited that Cockpit has extended this invitation to me. I am looking forward to this show because of the theme. Fathers’ contribution to society must be celebrated and I am honoured to be part of this great evening,” Sir Paul Banda said.
He said, as a musician, he will continue to entertain and give out his best.
“I will always do my best during shows. I am ready for Cockpit,” said the artist, who has several albums to his credit.
The legendary musician joins a number of artists who have performed at Cockpit in the past few months.
These include Edgar ndi Davis, Giddes Chalamanda, Lulu and award-winning hip-hop artist Tay Grin.
Although Father’s Day celebrations vary across the world, it is commonly celebrated on the third Sunday of June and this year it falls on June 18.
The day honours fathers, celebrates fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society.
Cockpit Lounge’s publicist Natasha Maluza said the lounge continues its tradition of setting the mood for its clients on special days like this.
“The fun begins and ends at Cockpit. We launched the year of fun few months ago and we are honoured to host one of Malawi’s legendary musicians and he perfectly fits into Cockpit’s theme on Sunday,” Maluza said.
