Malawi women’s national football team strikers Tabitha and her younger sister Temwa Chawinga will be on parade against each other for the third time this season as their sides clash in the Chinese Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Both Tabitha and Temwa played on Tuesday when their teams booked places in the final. Tabitha’s side Jiang Sunning, who are defending champions, earned a hard fought 1-0 victory over Shanghai Shengli whereas Temwa’s Wuhan thrashed Beijing Phoenix 4-0 on the same day.

However, Tabitha was not on target for her side but Temwa scored the fourth goal of the match to take her tally to eight goals from 11 matches in her debut season. According to www.goal.com, Temwa scored with nine minutes to full time.

“Nine minutes, Chawinga (Temwa) guided in the fourth with her body to complete the rout for Wuhan, guaranteeing their final place. Chawinga’s latest marks her eight in 12 matches this season for Wuhan and takes her to second on the scorers’ chart -nine behind leading goal scorer Zambian Barbra Banda, who has 17 goals,” reported www. goal.com.

Tabitha has scored seven goals in 10 matches and looks set to lose the golden boot race for the first time since she moved to China from Sweden.

Sunning and Wuhan have already met twice this season with the youngster on the winning side on both occasions.

Tabitha said the final would be a different match.

“We know it is going to be a tough match for both sides. The best team on the day will win it but we will do our best to defend the league,” she said.

Last season, Tabitha was voted as the Player of the Tournament and also finished as the top goal scorer with 12 goals.

Temwa said she was excited that her side would play in the final.

Both Temwa and Tabitha are expected to be part of the Malawi women’s national football squad at this year’s Cosafa Cup in Nelson Mandela Bay from November 3-14.
